About Your Teacher

Mrs. Patricia Gumela

I have been a music teacher in the greater Houston area for 35+ years, specializing in Violin and Viola. I have played in many symphonic orchestras over the years including The Pasadena Philharmonic, Symphony North of Houston, Houston Civic Symphony, Kingwood Pops, Galveston Symphony, Symphony Inspira, and many more. I am a member of the Southeast Texas Suzuki Association (STXSA), and have taught for several schools all around Houston. My students have gone on to compete in regional and state orchestra competitions, place rank 1 in solo and ensemble, and move on to become teachers and performers in symphonies across the country. I now live and teach out of my home studio in Tomball TX, and live with my Husband of 30 years, and several beloved cats and dogs. I have 3 wonderful children; A luthier, Producer, and my youngest son. I love what I do, and am blessed to have been given this path in life.

What You'll Learn

Violins

I design each lesson I offer according to my students’ abilities, and make the necessary changes once I become more familiar with their needs. If you want to learn more about what your lessons will entail, please reach out and I will be happy to answer your questions.

Nocturne

I believe and practice the Suzuki Method. With this structure, you can achieve anything you set out to do!

Violin

No matter your level of skill or experience, it's never "too late" to start taking lessons, or pick back up where you left off. We have both private and group classless, and attend workshops and concerts to showcase what you've learned!

Our Story

I was born and raised in Pasadena Texas, and always had a passion for the arts. I started with ballet and acrobatics, and when in the 5th grade my school went to see a symphonic orchestra, I knew I wanted to play the violin. I played all throughout middle school and high school, and went to Sam Houston State University to study music education. While in school there, I started my Suzuki training with Jacque Mills, and was certified to become a Suzuki Teacher. In college, my parents worked with Lisle Violins and got me my first professional violin, made by the ever talented award winning luthier, Xiao Hua Wu. After college, I opened my very own music school; Golden Tone Violin School. Over the years I have taught for many school districts and private institutions like Spring Branch ISD, Houston ISD, Faith Christian Academy, and other Private Schools within the greater Houston area. I have played in professional and volunteer chamber and symphonic orchestras, and worked with many very talented individuals. I take pride in my students abilities and accomplishments, and am very proud of each of them. I have students that went on to become teachers themselves, performers, producers, composers, luthiers, doctors, lawyers, etc. I am thankful every day to have been able to be a part of such wonderful peoples journeys. I now enjoy teaching from my home studio in Tomball TX, and playing in various orchestras around Houston.
